My wife got one of her friends to babysit and took me on a surprise date yesterday. Had a good dinner, hung out at Chapters (we used to do this all the time in college when we were broke), bought the first two books in the Dark Tower series finally (I've been meaning to read these for like 10 years now), and watched Gone Girl in theaters (Holy crap that was an amazing movie. I went in not even knowing what it was.

Well, newest. Haven't really played/seen it played before, since it flopped so spectacularly when it came out.
We both made cities with different focuses; mine was very industrial and gritty, and amusingly ended up doing quite well financially.
I blame the casino strip and tourism industry.

We both made cities with different focuses; mine was very industrial and gritty, and amusingly ended up doing quite well financially.
I blame the casino strip and tourism industry.

I haven't played it myself, but apparently the best way to make a huge city was simply to set the tax rate to zero, which made people magically not need healthcare, stopped accidents from occurring and solved all crime, like some sort of libertarian paradise. Somebody made a city which was literally nothing but residential skyscrapers and roads with it.

At that point EA hadent taken Maxis and turned it into an empty husk, which has recently had a bit of life blown into it. Not much, but some.

When a simulation of your political views being true can be misconstrued as "a buggy mess," you have some soul searching to do

(I'm referring to those who think the reason the Libertarian Paradise hasn't come true is because we haven't cut welfare and taxes enough yet. I.E. it's a degradation of society as you get down and down and down until you magically reach this sweet spot where it's all sunshine and fucking rainbow puppies everywhere.)

As I sit here in my office, digesting a magnificent burrito and sipping from a mug of tea, reading Pliny's account of the basic nature of the world while waiting for updates on a /tg/ quest thread, I can't help but notice that at some point my life took a turn for the awesome.
