Mostly I just did creepy statue impersonations that were helped by my costume, which was a ... mix of things. When I moved though, people got jumpscared so many times.
And a few of them I transported into the Column of Trembling and left them in there for a while.

Hehe, I have fun memories of that from when I was in high school. I had this long black robe with one of those hoods with the mesh front that makes it look like it's empty, and a pair of skeleton-hand gloves. I'd just sit there on our porch stock-still with the bowl of candy on my lap, and any time a kid came up the walk, I'd wait until they reached the top of the porch stairs before slowly moving one hand to cover the bowl.

I also used another trick, where I'd stand in our yard (it's fairly non-traditional; no grass, just different sorts of bushes and lots of mixed wildflowers, so it looks pretty spooky in the right lighting), again completely still, leaning slightly against a large shepherd's hook -- people didn't always notice me, and when they did, the costume + my figure + my position made me resemble those scarecrow-esque decorations that a lot of folks have. When kids got past me and went onto the porch, I'd silently move out onto the walk and stand there facing the house, stock-still again.

Good times, that.

Oh man. I remember one Halloween where I went and sat outside in the relative darkness of our front yard with a big bowl of candy to give to kids. I had this plastic jack o lantern sitting next to me and I had put on this oversized overcoat over my head, so it looked like I was headless.

Was pretty funny to just sit stock still and listen to kids' reactions. As they came close to get candy I'd make some subtle/sudden movement to catch them off guard. One little kid was so intimidated he didn't even try to come get candy, he insisted his mom would have to get it instead.

One year, I was trick-or-treating (ah, the good old days of innocence) when some guy just suddenly busted out of a tomb in the yard of the house I was trick-or-treating at.

Scared the hell out of me.

One time when I was trick or treating with friends, some guy in a ghillie suit jumped out of a hedge at us. Don't think it scared the hell out of us, considering the lack of demon attacks that night, but it did scare us.

Good times.

My careers teacher was talking about this one person he knew who walked into an interview, did it fine, then tried to leave through some cleaning supplies room in front of the interviewer.

Don't be that guy :P

Oh hey, I got paid on Friday! I forgot, that happens on the 31st now instead of the 1st. So I can pay for dinner tonight without needing to balance the account after payday. Networking can proceed guilt-free!

EDIT: Also, who needs pasta sauce? My lunch can be made with butter and onions.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I'm watching the chase scene from Fast Five where they chase all through the city with a vault chained to their cars again and it has to be the most hilarious chase scene I've ever seen.
