Finally found an online backup site that is willing to backup my entire HD for less than my soul (I am not kidding - backups for even 1TB get really expensive).  Backblaze is about $5/month, less when paid in advance, and they don't limited the data you can backup.   

The backup program is a bit rough - the default assumption is that everything gets backed up, and users can only exclude folders they don't want - but it seems to work well and it's hard to beat the price / GB.  I've been without an online backup service for a few years and I was getting nervous.

Bought myself XCOM Enemy Unknown.
It is the greatest thing.
And I have the awesomest sniper!
She has not missed a single shot~

Once you've finished your first campaign, get the Long War mod. Feel the same feels all over again, except more so.

I think the pinnacle for me was running my scout with insanely high mobility and nothing but the starting SMG and the crappy light armor (hence the high mobility)  through a certain all-Chryssie/zombie terror mission rescuing civilians while I kept the rest of my squad frantically going through reload-fire cycles literally at the edge of the drop zone.

At any rate, once you've finished vanilla (and assuming you got Enemy Within as well), it's practically a fresh experience. Heck, Enemy Within alone is practically the same after vanilla.

...I'm actually making progress on the homebrew tabletop system I've been working on for the past 3-4 years. All it took was taking it from being a universal system to a system for a specific thing. Namely, Bionicle. Already got offensive and defensive elemental powers in a somewhat workable state. First release is gonna have movement-related elemental powers fairly abstract, and the only PC races will be Turaga, Toa, and Matoran, but still. I'm gonna have something to put out there in the near future.
