y u no WoT. It really isn't that long. Less that 14000 pages.
I guess it's not that bad. To the Library!
It's got a lot of purple prose and relatively unnecessary subplots in my opinion that really stretch out the length. Then again, it's fantasy.

Turns out you can seriously not notice how deep into this shit you went until you get out.

work day is over

thank

god
Just sat down at home for the first time today a little after 10 pm.  I feel your pain.
I worked 9-5, had a line to the door while my boss disappeared several times, nearly punched someone out, got attacked by a spider, accidentally handled a bag that smelled like cat piss, and got cussed out by a minor today. That count for anything?

You don't notice the time go.

Truly, LoTR only barely beats it, and that's 'cause of the poems and songs.

I ended up skipping most of the poems and songs starting around Book 4 (halfway point of TT) because they took up pages and pages and pages and I had a book report due.

Reminds me of KoL's joke on it.

Open the bottom drawer
In the bottom drawer of this nightstand you find a hardcover book -- one of those long, dry fantasy novels. Y'know, the kind that read like a cross between a fairy tale, a history book, and the Bible? You flip through it, absorbing some of the knowledge, but unable to resist skipping the boring parts (and the ten-page songs.)

Meanwhile, the only thing that really annoys me about WoT is that, while it doesn't have any of those long, Tolkienesque dialogue sequences where you eventually forget which old guy is talking, is that (at least as far as I've gotten) there are these long, boring sequences with just really slightly irritating angsty ramblings, typically in Aes Sedai related parts.

Seriously, most of the wikipedia plot summary of Lord of Chaos is about the last couple chapters. What's sadder is that in hindsight it's a pretty decent summary.

Is that a summary of the songs or something? :P

The songs were decent, but I had a deadline.

Ok, ok.
But first, let me read all the books again and watch all the movies. Nostalgia hit me hard today.
Enjoy your stay while you're at it. Orlando's not half-bad; then again, living a short distance from there, I may be a tad biased.
