The day after tommorow is my last class for the week. I need to make plans, although learning how to use blender is a good step.

Microsoft has MSVC, or linux's GCC. MinGW is GCC for windows, CYGWIN(capitalization unknown to me) is GCC for windows that emulates linux(basically compiles linux programs so that they run on windows).

MSVC is also an IDE, but the others are just command-line. You can get IDEs that use variations of GCC. Dev-C++ and code::blocks(Did I spell that right?) are two.

I personally use plain MinGW(And batch files to make compiling easier), but you should at least know the alternatives, right?

Well, it might be a good idea to put something in it that you plan to chop up or blend, otherwise you're just listening to it make a funny noise and watching the blades spin.
