A good night's sleep has finally been obtained, by the surprising strategy of sleeping on the bed backward. You see, it's an air mattress that, for some reason, is raised at one end to provide a sort of built-in pillow. I'm now pretty certain that it's that fucking thing that's responsible for all this damn neck pain, as sleeping with it at my feet is much, much more comfortable.

I'm a bit sad that so much of my life these days is circumventing the "features" of things that should be simple, but right now I'm still in a good mood from the sleep.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Glad I had the money to splurge on a buffet. Nothing quite like eating 50-60 pieces of sushi, then following that up with a bunch of stuffed mushrooms, a pizza bagel, a piece of tiramisu, and a couple of donuts.

I eat a few small plates (two "ships" or about four "rolls" each) and I'm full. Gosh.

Well, there's like 8 to 10 pieces per roll, by my estimate, so it's not as many as it sounds. Still a lot of food though.
