It doesn't bother me at all. I have been playing this game for long enough that Toady could actively make DF's interface worse and it would not phase me.

Typically, by the time a plant has become coal and then been processed, it is not considered poisonous per se.

Poisonous leaves and something nasty about the edible bits, too, iirc. Think it was either liver failure or cancer. Something along those lines. Is reason's they've stopped using it in root beer and whatnot.

Or maybe that was sassafras? One of those two. Maybe both, I'unno. Moral of the story is that nature wants to kill you, eat lab grown stuff instead.

Sassafras can give you cancer. Also, it can be processed into ecstasy.
Rhubarb is toxic because of its oxalic acid content, IIRC - something about complexing with calcium ions...
