Did really well on a math test at my community college about a month ago. Best in the school, and fifth best overall in the state.
Missed the award ceremony (when they give all the awards/scholarships out). I went to pick up my certificate, only to find that I actually got: Two certificates (one for fifth place, another for being the best in the school), Two $100 checks, four books, and a really awesome graphing calculator (eg. one with hardware/software that is more advanced then the 1980's graphing calculator standard).

That all said, I am also kind of sad because that if I had taken the fall test I would have gotten the best overall for the year, and gotten a small scholarship in addition.

Yeah, it was really unexpected. Someone told me during class, and I was like 0.o, because I only answered like half of the questions. Turns out that that was better then anyone else managed.

Also this youtube video is hillarious.

I made it to Taiwan! And to think, all it took was over 25 hours of economy class Delta flights. This place is pretty cool so far, though I've nearly gotten ran over more than once. Apparently traffic chaos is present in both Chinas, but there is at least a semblance of order here. Still been almost clipped by the fleets of scooters more than once.

I have been informed that there is frequent acid rain here, so that's concerning.

Why are you in Taiwan anyway? Vacation?

Study Abroad, though so far this isn't looking very challenging, so perhaps vacation would be more accurate. Here for 9 days, then on to Seoul, then home.

I am both surprised and amused about the level of taste the group of young boys that I lead in my Boy Scout troop is showing. These are boys about whom one would use the term 'underprivleged'. They live in a housing development. Most of them are on food stamps. They are, by and large,  cause for using the word 'uncouth'. However, they have insisted that, since we are going on a fishing trip, we *will* have fish filets, and they *will* have little slices of lemon on them. I approve of this.

*Boys led out by you have unkempt hair, rags and knives in their pockets.

*Boys led back by you are cultured, have neatly combed hair, a monocle and demand that all food be accompanied by little slices of lemon.

I dunno what you did to 'em, but I approve too! :P

Well, the knife part is true...

Actually, we *encourage* them to carry knives. A pocketknife is a very useful tool.

A butterfly knife is cooler to have than a pocketknife.
