So, I was reading The Fires of Heaven, a Wheel of Time book. To sum up what's going on, there's a woman walking in an alley, and there's these two soldiers guarding her with their swords out. She thinks to herself:

Why must men always think you can solve anything with violence? If she'd had a stout stick, she'd beat them about the shoulders until they saw reason.

Aaah, irony.

I can't remember if I didn't like the female characters in that book series, or I just found all the characters very similar to each other.

Its been at least 5 years since I read them.  I was fortunate in that I stopped reading right before it got to the 2-3 books where nothing happens.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

My only real beef there is that all the female characters hate the stereotypical masculine disposition, and the male characters feel the same way about the women. However, there are a lot more chapters written from the viewpoints of the women, making you feel like James Oliver Rigney, Jr., was extremely sexist.

At least it feels that way as far as I've gotten, which is 3/4 of the way through the fifth of 13 books.

Had some time to kill, so I stopped by a local gathering of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Pretty cool. Apparently there's a war in a couple months. I may just have to check that out.

Hundreds of heavily armed and armoured men and women on hundreds of heavily armed and armoured men and women. They fight for about five days straight, according to the guy I talked to.

SCA is pretty awesome like that. I've always wanted to join, but the majority of my training is eastern, not western.

Man, I wonder if there are any SCA groups near me.

Edit: Thanks for the link, but I'd found it myself. Turns out there's a group about half an hour away, and they're having a meeting tomorrow. Huh.

Getting back into DF after over a year of not playing it. Currently modding in gnolls because why the fuck not. Saw a way to avoid a problem that kept recurring for furred humanoids in older mods of mine. This is happies indeed.

You know, they do eastern to. If Europeans encountered it between 600 and 1600, it's fair game. So that means there's Greeco-roman, Viking, Samurai, and even some native Americans, according to the guy I talked to.
