At least it's taken my mind off being sick...

IT is an awesome job. I actually got to work off the books at my dad's company last summer. (They paid me in computer parts, which I am entirely OK with.) The IT room at [NAME REDACTED] is a cesspool of computer crap, so I cleaned that. They need twenty-odd identical computers running Linux for the call center? Clonezilla powers... ACTIVATE! These computers are supposed to go to charity? Wipe them, catalogue them, and keep the best bits for myself. (I like to think of it as I was helping underprivileged youth focus on their studies by making sure their computers ared under-spec.) A manager needs her office furniture moved? Set up her desk right under her big flatscreen so that employees can look at funny pictures during performance reviews.

The IT department at [NAME REDACTED] is pretty cool. Last Christmas, they made a tree out of old monitors and a wreath out of RAM sticks. They even have four flatscreens on the wall for the express purpose of showing fancy graphs about the servers.

A pair IT guys I worked with once did literally nothing other than playing video games all day. They were frequently called "the best employees of the branch" by our boss, as they always sucked up to him and never asked for raises.
