Despite them being more or less horrifying murderbeasts (though, to be fair, less so than cats, insofar as I'm aware), most cultures that I know of have a pretty good view on owls. People seem to like them for some reason or another. I guess it's the bone vomit? I'unno. They're pretty neat critters, anyway.

The hooting's definitely one of the better dinosaur noises we have nowadays, though. Certainly less annoying than woodpeckers.

We occasionally have Tawny Frogmouths in a tree in the backyard. Don't notice anything until you see a branch staring back at you. Not an owl though.
