It seems like upper body strength has to do with it, too. My arms and legs are in okay shape, but I cannot do a single crunch, and the chest area shakes horribly when doing push-ups. Perhaps if both chest and arm were strong, with a decent BMI, anyone could do twenty or more push-ups...
I can do crunches like a boss because back when I was a kid, I would crunch myself up, hold my knees, and roll forward like a frelling Goron from Legend of Zelda. (I'm not kidding, my friend told me it was the coolest thing he ever saw apart from my Zoidberg impressions.)

I checked just now, and I can do about 50 pushups, though i expect I'd be able to do a maximum of 70 when not tired.
Are we comparing push-up numbers? I can do around 80 before my form starts slipping.
I would imagine that Eldritch Karate experts would have a rather easy time with upper body strength.

It is a very good day to be free. :D
I call three cheers for Hans!

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Hooray!

Also: OH SWEET RELIEF.

Temperature just dropped about 15C, thunderstorms and wind. Some respite from the 44C weather of earlier today.

That plays every evening on the radio around here, in a kid's program we somehow listen to every evening because we eat at about that time.

Also, Hans Hans - Huzzah!

I should convince the Society for Creative Anachronism to get me a T-Shirt reading "Free Helgoland". But nobody would get the joke...

Now "Free" is an adjective instead of a verb. No problem!

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
