Having just now started listening to AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd and so on, I desperately want to relearn guitar.

Vester reminded me of Sonata Arctica.
I've been listening to them while reading SMBC for the past hour or so.

That seems... incongruous.

Why so twitchy?

I just kind of assumed that all children go through the phase where they discover Led Zep, Pink Floyd, etc. when they're like...I dunno, 12?

We have a CD of lullaby covers of Zeppelin and U2 for my 3-month old. Might get the Tool one as well.

They have lullaby covers? Fantastic. At least you're bringing him up right.

I recently stumbled upon an rather awesome band. Guy was frustrated by what he feels is wrong with music today, and rather than go complain about it to his rock-nerd friends, he decides to start writing music, and make that his argument.

LCD Soundsystem.

He's a bit Punk Rock, a bit Techno, and a bit World... the lyrical ability of Cake with the groove of quality electronica. His musical repetoire is pretty expansive, and his lyrics aren't stuck to the same three themes that almost every other song by every other artist deals with. It's good stuff!

I particularly like Home, but Drunk Girls has a bit of a "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" quality to the lyrics that makes me happy.

They have Web-playable clips so you can get an idea of what it's like.

Yeah, I heard that interview on NPR last night too. :P I hadn't considered the similarity to Cake (whom I love), but now that you mention it, maybe I'll give them another listen.
