Just got back from the Pumpkin Drop at the Pumpkin festival that's held every October here in Maine. Basically what happens is they take these fricking enormous (Like, in the thousands of pounds) real pumpkins that people grew, lift them a couple hundred feet into the air with a crane and drop them onto a junk car. It was pretty awesome.

You get it after graduating university or after your junior year, IIRC. I know for a fact that you get it from university.

(I feel so Canadian calling it "university" with no articles you don't even know)

I actually approve of calling it "university" and have as often as I could. "College" is too vague in the US. It could mean a trade school, a little tech school, a community college or an actual university. Saying that you went to "college" tells you basically nothing in the US and you only get looked down on by people outside of the US who maintain that distinction.
College and university are technical terms with meaning. A college does not do scientific research alongside teaching, while a university does.

OOoooooh, so THAT'S the difference. Living in Europe with English being my second language and one of my parents living in London I've always been baffled what the hell is college and why is it different things in UK, Canada and US.

Right, but in the US, when not referring to if the school does research or not, we use it interchangeably. Someone graduating from a private university still says "I'm going to graduate from college." This is not the case elsewhere in the world.

I love that game. It's so sad I lost the game itself and the code in a computer mistake, and Istill haven't been able to find it.
I have a spare copy if you are interested? I own it on disk and as part of a Humble Indie Bundle.

Thanks y'all.

The chance of spending my birthday at home is pretty much nil, so might as well try to spend it here.

My old roommate left behind a bottle of red wine, which I've only recently opened up. It's drier than I like for drinking, but is a great addition to tomato sauce.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
