I'm so jealous right now, I wanted to learn martial arts, but the only martial arts place in town will only teach like, 2nd graders and younger. Like, seriously, wtf? Why would you need to teach a toddler kung-fu, and not, Oh, I don't know, someone who can use it?

Actually being taught?
I started self-training myself around the age of 8 or so for defensive reasons, but I had no real instructions.
Although I also trained myself in a variety of weapons, as well, partially staves and spears.

Heh. I had boxing lessons for a while, though the instructor got sick, so the club was shut down. For weapons, I've always been partial to hammers, mostly because we renovated a lot when I was young, so I got to tear shit down with it. Fun times. SMASH SMASH SMASH.
