Yeah that's wrong here's a correction

Only some of it is plasma though. A lot of the atmosphere is still gas. It's only really plasma in the core.

If by "core" you mean "all of the visible parts up to ultraviolet", then yes.

That's because I'm telling you to kidnap as many friends as will fit into your car and take them to go see it with you. In Satan's glorious name, it has my inner child squealing and laughing loud enough to shatter all of the glass in a small city! Appropriate enough, I suppose... FUCK! YES! THIS IS IT! This is the movie I've been waiting for ever since the first time I marathoned a bunch of Godzilla movies as a wee little bairn. If you watch anything on a screen this decade, THIS SHOULD BE IT. I can't even coherently describe how much I loved that!

So judging by your response i assume it was a decent movie?

There's only one single, solitary thing that really bugs me about it.

Mako and Raleigh eject. Through the portal. Which was specifically described as requiring kaiju genetic code to pass through less than five minutes beforehand (a major plot point). But okay, let's assume that the extra-universal aliens are just a bit daft and only made their security locks work one way, sort of like the single-direction spike strips at banks, etc.

Now then, if they (in a very early model Jaeger) have ejection pods, why the ruddy hell didn't Stacker and Chuck eject after starting the detonation sequence on their nuke!? They had a good ten or fifteen seconds before detonation, and if the things can survive riding a nuke through an interdimensional portal and rising from the bottom of the ocean, there's a decent chance of just surviving the nuke and ocean. Though I'm not terribly inclined to quibble over fridge logic in the dramatic sacrifices when I've got two hours of giant robot-on-giant monster action to drool over.

The other thing that bothered me about Pacific Rim is that they can airdrop a Jeager from as few as 8 helicopters.

I just assumed that along with advances in the field of Giant Robots, they also figured out how to make Helicopters more powerful.

THe better you make your helicopters (or flying hovercraft or VTOL craft), the more truthful you can make Maxim 11, since you can carry more things up into the air.

If I was going to pick something like that to question, I would probably have gone for the old square-cube law dilemma. I don't think there was a single line of dialogue devoted to explaining that away with technobabble.

My main realism issue is this: if we can build into a humanlike robot six rocket launchers with enough firepower to kill a Kaiju, why not build a bunch of separate rockets mounted on trucks and ditch the awkward robot frame?  And why does Gypsy Danger bother punching when it has a plasma cannon that clearly works much better?

Not that I care.  This movie is very soft sci-fi, and I'm cool with that.  I'm just saying, if you're going to build the next generation of weapons tech, and you say "we need _____ rockets", the blank better be filled with "plasma" and not "elbow".
