I stopped playing after the one with Kefka. Fuck that clown/jester thing.
Kefka was awesome. Best FF villain ever, if you ask me. He wasn't a pretty boy, but he was an insane mastermind that played all the other bad guys like pawns.

Also, found something relevant.

He was the only one that really "Won", in that he did take over the world for a year. I mean, sure, other bad guys have destroyed the world/sucked it into the void/taken over, but I think Kefka was the only one who actually made it stick for a while.

I should mention I have seen it already. And it was amazing. So I'm going to watch it again.

No joke, that movie is my go-to example for why debates are allowed to cause physical damage to characters under the right circumstances.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Watched Suckerpunch. I am really glad that I watched this and its sequel first. The movie might have been better without the spoilers (which are total), but I think I agree with that review's assessment of the intent, and I don't think I would have noticed it the first time (and I don't think I would have watched it a second). Having that lens available during the movie was, I think, better than avoiding spoilers.

First time I watched Suckerpunch I pretty much got the "Geek fantasies = sexual exploitation" thing, although going one level of meta up and explaining the name was pretty good on Bobs behalf.

Aye. I'd bought into the ad campaign, which means that as the movie started out, before it got to the sequences that really hammer home that interpretation, I'd have assumed that what I was seeing confirmed that, all I was watching was a shallow action movie. At which point, I probably would've stopped looking for deeper meaning, and... yeah. Not much more to say that isn't repeating my last post. Not the best movie I've seen, but I don't regret the time I spent watching it.

Yeah, even with that lens, I just... couldn't.  It only works if you're willing to buy into and enjoy that in the first place, and ... yeah.  I tried watching it twice, years apart, and both times I stopped almost immediately.

EDIT: I get a sadistic pleasure out of giving my Deus Ex agent the moniker "Hal Emmerich" for his real name.  He certainly dies frequently enough.

Hoping to get my last two units signed off on merits today.
Overall grade is going to be meh, but I've already dropped two courses in the past, so I'm just happy to be graduating.

Same here. Worst thing is that movie completely ruined Army of Me for me. It's a bad movie, even with that lens.
