I experienced a lot of rage at my uni when I found out that IDLE (a Python GUI) didn't actually work, and I obviously can't re install it as I do not have the proper privileges.

But after a lot of raging at Ubuntu (installed by default on all uni PCs) I can now run python files in the terminal :D. Not the best way to check code, but it certainly is better than running code in Windows and trying to get a screenshot of the error before it closes ;_;

Programming python without the IDLE? Kind of painful.

My combined rage/happy is: rage - finding  the uni computers to be using an incomprehensible version of the apple os shit
happy - finding a set of computers running red hat linux, which is easier to use

I take my happy back.

Ubuntu is just Windows with more crashing and lack of permission to save files ;_;

Today's xkcd.

As an astronomy geek and someone fascinated with memes, this has all my happy.

In fact, I'm tempted to run an Aurora game now where all colonies will be named after time-appropriate memes. (I'm a bad, bad person...)

I might do that someday, when Aurora is a little more playable.

The xkcd will be terribly outdated by then though :/

Simple enough, just subtract distance in LY from current year, then use some guide to pop culture to find appropriate memes for the system in question. In fact, I'm tempted to calculate it based on the in-game date that I settle each system. Because I'm a masochistic bastard for details like that.  :-\

Fun fact: HD 196885 (112 LY distance) is currently the most distant start to be capable of detecting Earth-based radio traffic, as Marconi's 1901 trans-Atlantic broadcast might be very faintly discernible.
