Clipped one of my sugar glider's nails last night for the first time ever.  Had always taken them to an exotic vet to do so before.  Hadn't had the time/money in forever and they were getting bad.  It's terrifying because they panic so much and struggle when handled that way, but success was had!

Cute little buggers, though, at least in picture. Dunno about in person when they're presumably crapping (mad flyby style, it's like an attack pigeon for your own home!) in your hair/teacup.

I haven't actually let them out of their cage much the last couple years.  I'm rather ashamed of it.  Life has just been too crazy.  Clipping the nails is my first step to giving them more attention again.

Personality-wise, they're somewhere between a cat and a ferret.  They're fairly intelligent, and very curious and playful... but not fully domesticated, so they're somewhat aloof unless you really spend a lot of time with them.  Mine will climb all over me and play with me, but they don't trust me enough to be picked up by hand and manipulated.  That takes a lot of work.  If you wear them around enough in a pouch, they'll get so used to your scent that they'll identify you as their home.  Then you can walk around with them and let them roam free wherever, and they'll never stray too far and always return.  I actually had them there a few years ago and took them out in public a couple times.

They're not too messy if you manage their time well.  They make waste mainly when they've just woken up and when they eat.  Let them out of the cage any other time, and you're fairly safe.  They only poop little dry pellets that are easy to clean up, anyway.
