Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Montreal~ After Toronto and Vancouver, best city in Canada North America the world.
Not even Canadian, and I love that song. I have no idea why, since as a red-blooded MURRICAN I am obliged to hate anything foreign :P

Also, I discovered a forum function that doesn't have a button associated with it :D

Breaking: I am. . . terribad at Uplink?

Apparently I started a timeskip attached to their server and they destroyed my profile, roffle.  Think I'm going to go play FFIX or Geneforge for a while instead.
That sort of thing will happen sometimes. Also the Vlish were crazy powerful in the first gene forge.

I couldn't figure out how to start the game, so you're ahead of me, at least.

Haha, it was just unexpected.  I'll try again in a while.

I had a deck idea. I call it Corporate Capitalism, because the idea is to slowly drain the life out of my foes for my own benefit, while using legal technicalities and loopholes to crush the dreams of anybody hoping to escape the terrible poverty which I intend to inflict upon them. I call its sideboard the Red Menace, because it serves to seize the means of production, introducing red mana, and allowing me to use this power to execute dissidents where manipulation of the law fails me.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

It took over an hour, but between Putnam and myself I think we calculated that the cost of deorbiting the Moon, using 4 trillion tons of uranium-235 and somewhere like fifty times that in rocket mass will cost 20 quintillion dollars.

Kickstarter, anyone? :D

Why are we deorbiting the moon? I like having light at night. Also tides. And heck, it's pretty out tonight, all fairly full, with the trees and windows around here lightly frosted and glimmering.

Speaking of which, Spring is here! And with it... I had to clean fresh snow off my car this morning.

Yeah, fuck you too Michigan. Can it be warm summer thunderstorm/tornado time yet?

Won't that just make a smaller moon in time, like happened way back with Thea or something?

That's even worse! I like having Earth only slightly more than I like having a Moon! Mostly because both are pretty necessary for my continued existence!

Besides, we don't have any giants to catch it if you go and deorbit it with nukes.

Well, unless you move it fast enough once it passes the Roche limit it would be torn up, assuming you werent moving it directly at the surface at all the meters per second.

Though the Moon will eventually sort of de-orbit itself, if you wait long enough (as in geologic time), and break up as it approaches.

Earth would look sweet with a ring.

What's the cost of making the moon into a FULLY OPERATIONAL BATTLE STATION?

It makes the line "that's no moon" hella awkward, I can say that much.
