Deon: Probably that the lizardman's skin is one solid color is throwing it off and making it flat. Try shading in a very dark, saturated blue.
Then in between, take the skin color and shift it very slightly towards red (very very slightly) and add in this in a few places, between the skin tone and the shade.

Hungry: Can't see the image, "error in feed"?

Shoy: I'm digging it. Although bearded women dwarves weird me out.

Still needs work on mustash(more towards the first) and eyes(fine lines), some softening, and some texture...
Still nice, considering all I had was gimp, a mouse, and a mirror...

Main Entry: 1stark
Pronunciation: \ˈstärk\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, stiff, strong, from Old English stearc; akin to Old High German starc strong, Lithuanian starinti to stiffen — more at stare
Date: before 12th century

1 a : rigid in or as if in death b : rigidly conforming (as to a pattern or doctrine) : absolute <stark discipline>
2 archaic : strong, robust
3 : utter, sheer <stark nonsense>
4 a : barren, desolate b (1) : having few or no ornaments : bare <a stark white room> (2) : harsh, blunt <the stark realities of death>
5 : sharply delineated <a stark contrast>

Quite stark indeed. Nice drawing.
very... stark.

Yes, I know what the word means.

But The mustache reminds me of Tony Stark.

Anton LaVey resurrected!

How oddly similar, in more then just the apearance...

Also near my eyebrows I have scars that make them totally weird and uneven...the portrait is my fair side.

Got a sudden idea of drawing a portrait of my fortress' highest ranking noble (at least for the time being).

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Very awesome. If the background were just a bit smaller (the person is more important), you've got yourself a classical nobility portrait. The stance, composition, clothing, the way she looks; very nice.

I've been doing backgrounds very rarely, usually because I have no idea what to draw there. This time, tried to go with things the noble in question likes.

I'll try to provide something constructive to say, someday.  :-\

She's very stern and regal. However the clenched fist looks like she's about to haul off and sock the viewer a good one, possibly for failing a mandate.

It's great. :D
