Hey, I need some artists' help again. I am planning to draw a battle picture with a focus on "epicness".

I want to ask how to rearrange the battle better and also I think there's something wrong with the color palette I've chosen for the illian warrior/lizardman. Maybe it's not a color palette but a lack of textures or improper shading, I can't figure it out but something is definitely somewhat off.

What're you thoughts Spreggo,Balathustrius, others?

Beside the fact that the "illian warrior" looks like hes jumping a small wall, not quite at a good angle with the lizardman, the flatness of the lizardman's head....its very, very good.

Also you should put some work into the non-people parts of your scene, ex. a basic floor and backdrop to where they stand.

Also, here's something I thought would be a cool drawing, but I have no idea how to realize it. Any advice, or someone that would want to draw it? (I would like to do it myself however.)

Lower part, crusaders and moors/saracens fighting in a desert, dust whirling around them. Rising out of the dust, an Aztec temple with a priest holding the heart of a sacrificed spaniard. In the background, jungle trees and mist. Above the mist, a (faint) image of a young woman on a burning stake, making the air glow orange/red as in a sunset.

If the composition can be better, you can tell me that as well and thanks in advance.

Illian is supposed to be on a dead corpse pile/wagon, so it's ok.
Yeah, now I see that it's lizardman's head being flat . Thanks.

EagleV: no, it's a mechanos steam tank (a bit dwarven design) and it's being attacked by undead.

Also eaglev, to note on the "doodle" top to bottom, girl should definetly be facing forward, burning chick sunset awsome, upper left and right corners need either clouds and sky stuff or something else, trees and mist good but I'd suggest adding some ruins in there, preist should be standing over the spaniard not next to him, make sure you add plenty of stairs and shrubery to the temple, desert battle good but make sure you mix them instead of parting them, because theres a differance between a charge and battle, overall a fine concept.

Say, what sort of pencil/photoshop techniques could be used to make an object look like it's been grafted to a creature's body?  Say, for example, a metal spike grafted to the forehead of a lizard to make a horn.

I've been doing backgrounds very rarely, usually because I have no idea what to draw there. This time, tried to go with things the noble in question likes.
