I HAVE MUCH TO SAY

Well, the drow hate the surface elves more than anything else, because they were the ones who forced them underground.

that's kind of a nazi-ish thing to do.. maybe the drow are the jews in this case?

{BIG UGLY DUDE picture}

hmm. That reminds me of this artist book I once read. Your image looks like an example of the stage in the artist's life where gender begins to determine subject matter... young girls draw flowers and butterflies, young boys tend to draw grotesque and heavily detailed monsters like that which you just posted, focusing more on making it look crude and ugly and less on having appear functional as a creature.

openCanvas is a pretty good platform to get started painting.

Oh, I checked the website. Opencanvas looks pretty sweet. I look forward to learning how to use it.

ALSO:

Nazi drow! It was late when I drew this, so I've only coloured the head. I used the skin colour commonly seen in Dn'D dark elves, with grey skin and red eyes.

In my head I picture dark elves as having skin ranging from ruddy magenta to vibrant lavender, and having sickly yellow green eyes. Their blood is a sort of thick, deep blue fluid that dries purple. biologically, they are immune to most natural poisons, and can injest venom as a sort of drug.

Yeah, if anything my drawing style is a lot like cartooning. Fast, expressive, but not too deep. That's because most of my practise is doodling in school. Example lineart: (I usually ink them too, if they are good enough, but I lost my black pen and the replacement won't work. :( )

However, I copy images sometimes. They usually turn out well methinks...

The shading could have been better, but it already looks pretty damn swell in my opinion.

Thanks to Touhou, I now know how to do ribbons. And frills. Throughly.

no offense, but that's not really what I'd call cartooning...

I think they're both kinda forms of manga drawing, the first being what you'd call "super-deformed" and the second just being normal  anime style.

good job nonetheless.

It's cartooning if you do it fast, and expressively. The actual style is secondary, be it anime style, super deformed or that western abstractistic stuff.

In this case, super deformed is used for a more childish impression.

Yea, "manga" is a specific style/subtype of cartooning, it is only sorted separately because it has much more content than any other single style, and because many people have strong preferences for or against it relative other styles.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I am planning to do a series of panels based on Lord Voidler, the wraith general and personal executioner for the demon Tremoda mentioned in the latest story by Threetoe. Here's a defeated mayor/king/leader that has just suffered the wrath of Voidler's legion, and is just waiting for his end.

Was going to put some kind of Dwarf Fortress-esque design on the tapestries, you know like cheese or a hoary marmot but decided against it. Haha.

Wow, now thats a cool picture.

The texture is really great, makes me want to step up and work on environments/settings. All the open space up top works well and is striking in composition.

Not a big fan of most abstract expressionism, but they are usually good to study for solid compositions. :)

Except for those instances where they just paint a canvas solid red or something and then hang it up in a gallery. But then I guess there is still the texture or whatever.

This has huge potential ... I almost love it - there is something disturbing about the picture, however I can not put my finger on it.

It's so simple and stark, but it shows something. Awesome.
