It looks awesome.  It's great quality, the colors and lighting is great, and the concept is pretty awesome (especially on the second).  2 Questions: 1. How long did those take to create?
2. Please tell us you'll be joining these forums and posting more art, since it seems you're a fan of DF.

English can go to HFS. Art is a universal language, and you speak that very well.

Right.

I'm a bit shocked, didn't expect something like this when I sat down some hours ago.

I think the lack of planning kind of shows. The pose is awkward. It's not instantly clear what the troll is doing, and how its weird arms are supposed to work. Which could be justifiable, I guess. Gives it a sort of Lovecraftian "I only saw this monster once and I didn't get a very good look because I was running away" vibe.

Yeah, after a few good looks the legs are very iffy, perhaps should have made him lean forward a bit to give him a bit of a charging pose, right now he looks awkwardly threatening.

Damn it, second looks always spoil everything X)

You should also really look into blending your colors more, if you can.  There's something very... unbalanced? about the shading.

The troll is pirouetting. Amusing, but it's probably not what you intended.

The picture is also pretty heavy on the yellow-green.

I've been meaning to ask but keep forgetting; what brand of tablet do you guys generally use and what program(s) do you guys use?

I have a shitty tablet laying around that I put away to focus on traditional media. I do own a copy of Adobe Master Collection CS5 that I use regularly.

Honestly, the only brand that is ever worthwhile for an artist's digital tablet is Wacom for all price ranges. Software can vary.

From what I've seen, if I were you I'd honestly just start off with the much cheaper and frankly more educational pencil and paper for drawing instead of splurging on a $150+ tablet that you'll never adequately paint with because you have no technical foundations to work on.

I was just curious was all, what brand to get if I do go and get a tablet sometime.  I already maintain a sketchbook, so I'm actively building my skills.
