I'm hungover, so I can't decide whether this is complete yet.

Looks a bit rough, but I don't want to be overwork it either. I'm trying to render with the brush set to opacity-on-pen-pressure and I'm not comfortable with it yet.

Pre-post edit: Yeah, don't think it looks finished yet. Hope I can muster up some more time to work on it later.

I think its a reasonable likeness (including greying skin ...) Must remember to never drink again ...

you still have plenty time to work on it, though, why wait for next time? theres no reason to point the flaws you noticed and not try to correct them

Honestly didn't think of that, I'll try to work on it some more.

Somebody significant needed some help with a French assignment so I made these for her.

Why. Why would you do this to us, OO?

Images are loaded regardless of spoilering. Also, use [IMG width=x] jeez

I'm pretty sure they are loaded only after you click the spoiler tag.
That would explain the lag on the first opening of the tag,
and its absence on subsequent clicks.

EDIT: And thanks for the width tag advice, I wasn't sure how to do that before.

I can attest to the opposite; my loading times for this page increased dramatically after you posted. The pictures required no loading after the page was done.

There aren't too many ways to draw turtles.
It's like Squirtle x Homestuck, eh?

It could be that our browsers treat spoilers differently. I'm using Chrome.
In any case I've changed the links and they are much smaller now.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Outcast Orange: The comic strips look good :) They might gain visual clarity if you vary line weights a bit more. For example, heavier weighted object/character outlines would help differentiate them from other objects/characters.

Lord Nincompoop: I look forward to the revised version :) Perhaps try to redraw it using this one as a reference. Also collect references for the objects and clothing and use them for the new version.

Mendonca: This meets the requirements, but you might get something out of it by working on it a bit more. The color is good and you did a good job avoiding blacks and using saturated colors instead. One improvement might be to decided where you want the viewer to focus and adding some sharp edges there.

Jopax: Yours also meets the requirements, but there is room for improvement. The highlight on the face is pretty blown out and I think it takes away from the visual as a whole. Normally a rim highlight like that would be pretty thin. As it is the highlight obscures the turning planes of the face a little too much.

Everyone: There is still time left so I hope anyone who hasn't already will join the challenge :) In the future there may be prizes and things for these if we get to that point.

Re: Line weight
I remembered reading this nifty tutorial by Andrew Hussie describing the point of varying line weight and how to go about it, but when I tried to find it, I discovered that the lazy bum hasn't been paying his website bills and teamspecialolympics.com no longer exists. In case someone's interested, I found all the text in Google's cache and the images at one of his other websites. (The inktut##.jpg files.) It's something of a chore to read without the images linked into the document itself, but there it is anyway. Until Google updates its cache, at least.

I was away for 3 days and didn't feel like going through what I expected to be many posts, seeing as I had just gotten out of a car I was in for 5 hours and it was near 11PM and I wanted to sleep.

But enough of my stupid excuses, I'll check next time.
