Draw a well rendered fantasy/scifi/reality plant/fungus in the style of botanical drawing. See reference.

Requirement(s)

I've got shading, but how much texture can one honestly add in 'simple' MS Paint?

The crystal death as it's know among the very few people that know the real nature of this flower is a very peculiar thing indeed.Many speculate that the flower could not have come into existance by natural means, that it was magically modified or mutated under some very powerful influence.The flower itself is fairly ordinary early into it's growth, however as it reaches maturity it starts to grow crystals instead of pollen, the crystals are usually deep blue or bright red, depending on the enviroment.As these crystals grow it is presumed that the flower trough some unknown means drains it's surroundings of water and magical energy.Then after some animal(or poor soul who does not comprehend it's dangers) consumes the crystals as they let off a very intincing smell and they do contain a lot of liquid for their size, the flower will wither and die.Then after a certain period of time that depends on the creature that consumed them, (usually a month for an average human) the creature will simply die from shock as the crystals were filled with a strong poison that seems to react strongly with stomach acid, albeit very slowly.Then new flowers will start to sprout out of the corpse in a matter of days, regardless of the season all the while draining the corpse of nutrients, then after up to two months the flowers reach maturity and the cycle starts again.

Its a nice picture Barbarossa but one of the requirements is that it be in the style of Botanical Drawings as per the example. I.E. A strong sense of natural texture and as well as a decent amount of fine detail.

Also there is no problem here in using pen or pencil I will be doing my botanical drawing in pen.

Jopax: Maybe lay it out a little more closely with some labels to make it a bit more finished, then I think you meet the requirements.

Svampapa: Your entry meets the requirements but I encourage you to push the texture a bit further. Looks a little blurry now.

Everyone: A sense of finish (at your skill level) is what is most important for this challenge. Push the drawings as far as you can and think a bit about presentation
