The inherit problem is that most people who draw casually do it for fun.
Once you have to grind to attain a decent level of proficiency, that rather takes the fun out of it.

...Then what do you guys have that keeps you drawing?

What I have is the fun and wanting to attain the level of awesomeness that you others have, but that's it really. If you're awesome enough to be called thus and the fun's been removed, what's left?

1. stay up late enough that sleep deprivation starts kicking in
2. put on some awesome music
3. draw
Because once you have a bit of sleep deprivation and music, nothing seems boring. 

That's nothing, try 5 am hangover drawing, now that gives awesome results and is fun

I like the dwarf Soadreqm, in my head the disco ball is either reflecting light from a nearby magma pool, or is filled with it.
(what, am i the only one who has exposed magma channels around my fort, dining hall in particular?)

With the mention of magma, I feel the need to add some more fwoosh to this thread. Magma powered spaceships! nah, I kid..but they are some form of spaceship, that is no lie.

that's what my  are for. But in all seriousness, I'm going to probably tone down the excessive hot/cold OMGirartist lighting for the final versions.

I'm almost done with the main hull, then I'll be tarting it up with some sweet mesh details. And then for the texturing so I can differentiate between the eventual painted and un-painted sections.

I felt under-accomplished today, so I tried to fix that with a drawing.

It didn't work, unfortunately, but I can give you guys the results and see if you like it better then I.

I've been making some basic flags/logos for a hard-sf solar system setting I'm helping write.
They're honestly not very great, but I don't have a tablet and making them look good enough from drawing is going to be too hard to bother with.

United Ceres Commonwealth, basically the British commonwealth in space, based around the large asteroid/planetoid Ceres. (Logo and union jack cut and pasted into shape, not made by me.)


Ares Ballistics, a Mars-based weapons megacorp. (Helmet not by me, I could've drawn it, but it would've taken a long time to get right.)




Helios Sphere, a nation based on the large clusters of solar panels and habs around the sun, which export beamed energy to most of the inner solar system.



Drawn/scanned crude concept for a logo for the Jovian Trade Federation, a collection of megacorps (sometimes violently) competing with each other, as well as being generally not very nice people, and being the main supplier of He3 fusion fuel.

 Continue with the Astrological symbols motif you had for the first and second. And perhaps a faction or two the deviates from this to make them stand out. Otherwise it would make for a good motif.

That is actually exactly what happens.
I only get the spark to draw when I haven't slept.
