I figured I should upload my third poster that I made for my anti-Eleanor-Roosevelt slander campaign. (Had to prepare for my debate!  :P)

He is indeed wobbly, I think I accidentally drew him hip-thrusting with a bored expression.

lol I desided where to put the back end but where I put it made the damn thing wider and now it's 1600 by 3000 at full resolution so now it dont fit on my screen at full but 50 makes it look like desktop material.

rewinding a bit: i don't get what's the fuss about drawing hands.  it's a complex object, almost as complex itself as the entire human body, but with a reference it's easy enough. i draw my hand in about 30 seconds to a minute, but i'm an excellent draughtsman, a relativelly skilled artist should be able to do it in a few minutes.
also, drawing hands is excellent practice: fill a sketchbook with quick sketches of hands in 3 days, and you'll be able to draw anything that is organic shaped quickly and with relatively good accuracy.

hungry: you should probably get a reference for that, but i don't know exactly what to suggest. perhaps you should try some wider legs, with the elbow pointing outwards, the way you did it, it looks like he's squeezing his chest with his elbows

first off we were talking about no reference drawing of one's hands from memory with great detail, and the dragon is proping up it's large body so the squeezing effect is probably good.

I dont need references I can actually draw.

And yes the dragon is trying to look bigger for whatever reason, much like a cat would...but thats what turns out with it's wiggly body.

OK, I dont need references I never do use them as I end up saying to myself rather loudly "Get this fucking picture out of here, it's making me fuck up." and so thus often draw without using references and normaly turns out very well, just look at my photobucket almost all that is dont with no references, so thus I can draw fine without a solid reference unless I've never seen what I'm drawing.

i draw better than you

THAT part of that sentence dont make sense.

"Get this fucking picture out of here, it's making me fuck up."

Also: pictures are widely recognised as being not-very-good references.

Try drawing from life for better practice.

I have a dragon that often comes to my back garden, I feed him jelly-babies. Perhaps you would like to visit for the next dragon picture you want a reference from?

I'm intrigued, care to elucidate? Or provide some examples of your work? (i'm not doubting you ... I just am genuinely interested)

Irrespective of artistic skill, references are very useful when attempting to draw something using depth of field, perspective and a somewhat realistic style.  It's perfectly possible to draw without them but your end product will suffer.

There consists of about all the art that I have left from my youth and past, that wasnt lost or destroyed or taken by teachers, it's sadly missing the perfect gems along with random other things.

References are for those who dont know what things look like or dont have very much imagination.

Lets see your art cut out from reference and see how unimpressive it gets...

Well i've been drawing without reference most of my (short) life, only recently have i started using them, and for things i completley suck at, like animals, or women, or most other stuff that isn't giant robots/tanks/demons/monsters

You realize that you've just insulted probably two-thirds of the people posting in this thread, yes?

Not using references does not make you a 'better artist', but apparently it can make you smug, overconfident and unwilling to admit that you have things left to learn.

<snip>

I like the bloke in the last one, he reminds me of Prototype.  The thing in the middle picture is adorable.
