I feel absolutely horrible now. Here I was thinking I actually RULED at making art.

But don't take that the wrong way! I appreciate the criticism I asked for, and not "lol u sux". I only started painting stuff like yesterday. Spare me some slack! I also probably lack the software (I paint by mouse yes) to do some really decent works of art.

Can anyone give me some good advice as to some basic waterpainting methods that would help me? I'm very serious about getting into this, it seems fun and I enjoy the very little time a day I spend on it.

painting with watercolors?
get some thick papers and experiment! watercollors are fun, if a bit dangerous, expect to screw up a lot

i often resize stuff with gimp for antialiasing, and stuff, so i work big. i also use gimp, but not as often, as my computer is too crappy to support gimp and a tablet

Photoshop is probably best for "digital watercolor"... Just don't expect it to be a breeze.

I just realized that I did that... Was unintentional. Sorry, Duelmaster.

The size/level of the ears when the face is pointed directly forward are so that the top of the ear ends aligned with the middle of the eyes, and the bottom aligns with the end of the nose... It may be just a little bit above or below that, depending on head shape.

I think they appear too similar, and detached... Perhaps the lines should incorporate the ears more as part of the head. Also, his head looks slightly tilted, but the ears are in perfect horizontal alignment.

Here's my next piece of waterpainting scenery I'm making. It's another oceanic scene, an attempted remake of my last fail painting.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Please note it's a work in progress. I still need to add some stuff and finalize what I'm doing here, and especially, add some water reflection to the sun there. The ocean boulder/iceberg to the left over there has some water reflection that I thought looks okay but could use some more aquatic feel to it. I'll more than likely be changing it.

Any suggestions or criticism?

the shadow should be a lot longer, and should be extending outwards diametrically opposed to the sun's direction. also the composition is a bit scattered, with the sun's reflection this might be solved a bit.
