That looks really nice, Spreggo! Those engravings especially, are you planning to put in a lot more different ones? And is it at all possible to "align" a door with the wall (as the topmost door obviously doesn't)?

That looks great, even if doors on vertically aligned walls are a bit odd. The engravings are awesome.

Siquo: AFAIK we are pretty much stuck with only one sprite for the doors. I don't know much about the mechanics of it though so maybe someone can educate me. Every wall sprite has its own engravings.

Acanthus117: Sure :) I'm playing with the idea of doing full graphics but I have a lot on my plate lately so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that. I also am thinking about doing a tall version that is 20 x 24. I can't decide if I like it square or not.

Nope. The way tilesets work, there is no way to specify different tiles for vertically and horizontally aligned doors. Well, the game uses different tiles for different door materials, so if you really wanted to, you could make every horizontal door out of rock and every vertical door out of metal. :)

ugh, that's the problem I get when making tilesets... when you make tiles more complicated they lose all their ambiguety.

In some tilesets, the little fish/meat symbol 'α' is expanded to look like a drumstick, so it looks more like actual food. However, this causes fish to look like schools of swimming drumsticks... In my tileset I expanded the tile to look like a fish, however my butchered creatures now drop piles of multicoloured fish as a result...

Heh, yeah. I use a 16x16 ASCII tileset myself. One distant day, the game will support more sophisticated graphics, and a choir of angels will sing, the blind shall see, the lame shall walk, the short shall tall, and we'll all be resurrected by Robot Quetzalcoatl to enjoy the full Dwarf Fortress for eleven months before time ends.

Today, I drew this. Going to color it later, hopefully. Or at least doodle up some background.

Since it is 20x20 I enjoy the resolution rather large.

Hemp is not a reed.

It looks a little busy, but with what we can do at this point, what graphical tilesets don't?

Just so I remember

Velociraptors aren't dogs and don't, I think, have beaks. Your argument is invalid. :)

Please, for once be my hero and make the little 2's into SOMETHING. They never fit with the tileset.

in my tileset, I made the little 2's into bones.

also, I drew this thing:

Experimenting with mixed media, mostly tempera paint and black sharpie.

the character is from an old comic idea. He's the seventh son of a seventh son (the whole thing was inspired by the iron maiden song...) and he carves his path through a world gone mad, slaying monsters and trying to uncover the secrets of his past.

they can wander in from off-map (like animalmen) but whether or not they can build underground structures remains untested.
