Like scary as in "oh my god that's horrible never pick up a pointer/pen again!"? Or "That's kind of disturbing."?
The latter.

I'm not an expert on composition, but I daresay that this latest one doesn't evoke a lot of emotion. Maybe it seems a little... repetitive (pattern from side to side)? I dunno.

The surprised man has been painted over.

I think I have taken it about as far as I can.

What's so wrong with it, that you won't critique it?

Also note I've never been to an art class in my life. Most of this stuff is monkey level click, drag, rotate and undo until it looks "kinda decent." And generally done in less than an hour.

I need a few dwarves, back and front, for a board game I am working on.

Hey check it out, activity.

Outcast Orange: Graphically interesting. It has a lot of empty space which is making the whole thing look lopsided as composition. Definitely some landscape or something like that would improve it. Also try making the gradients a little more deliberate (as in not only ball shaped...?)

jarathor: Those look really great, I think you are on the right track. You're not overusing the watercolors so I think it's just an issue of practice.

mendonca: From life or imagination? The proportions look decent. Maybe you could try pushing the hue of the darkest shadows slightly towards the orangey side. Maybe no though, see what happens.

Dakorma: If you could resize future posts so that they aren't so huge they might be easier to comprehend. You've definitely got a Rothko thing going on.

Stas: Be a little more specific, someone might be able to help you out.

Ok I'll do that, also is the Rothko thing bad?

From imagination ...

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I have some sort of fear of moving too far outside a single range of hues. I could see it could maybe do with some sort of livening up when I threw a few splashes of pink on the lit lip and the cheek.

It's a balance between doing too much, and making it look worse, and not doing enough, so that it is not as good as it could be. Perhaps I am a bit too careful at the moment, possibly due to a lack of practice / skill and a lack of confidence in using colours ... huh.

I suppose the answer is probably to start drawing from life. I'll see if I can get one of my brothers to sit for me.

Also looking back on it, the nose is a bit wonky. Oh well.

I basically need 6 dwarves (all drawn in the same style) their front and back, so I could glue the front and back together.

2 crossbowdorf
2 hammerdorf
1 greataxedorf
1 thief looking dorf

Yeah so...Is this more specific?

Thank you!

The gradients are supposed to be some sort of energy representing parts of the body.

I know it doesn't make a great picture,
but I like abstract negative space gradients.

I'll probably upload a few simple things I made while sleeping through my art class.

Rothko did these huge paintings of colored fields. The compositions were pretty simplistic but were supposed to extract emotion from the viewer in a specific way, by overwhelming them with its presence. He was a very successful artist but seemed to derive little joy from it.
