I think it shows a lot of promise. If you follow that book through it can really improve your work a lot quickly. Most modern art classes are based on that book. Even though a bit of it is sort of pseudoscience, it still produces results by getting you to really look at things.

Bah, the book makes me feel really like it's not working or that I'm retarded at points, she says: "You would of felt x and y, probably z too" And I didn't or I had no idea to even think of that explanation.

Yeah just skip over the flowery or pseudo-scientific bits. What you should be taking away from it is that when you want to draw things, you have to get past all of your established ideas (symbolic representations) and draw what you see exactly the way it is. That's what the exercises of that book get you to do.

Anyways - there's no quick fixes or tricks in drawing. The only way to get better at something is to do it as much as possible, and study the people who do what you want to do.

I have to admit, the upside down and "Pure Contour" drawings made me flip the fuck out when I looked at the finished product.

like, what was it bad or good?

cause upside-down drawings are supposed to be better, or something.

Good.

I would of thought it would be a horrible distorted mess, because it was done upside down, but it actually looked like a completely proper face.

And my Pure Contour Drawing hand actually looked like a detailed hand, even if some of the lines spilled out and went psycho, that's what I least suspected.

I can't really comment on proportions or anything, the angle the photo is taken on is confusing, can you get one from above?

But it does look pretty good.

Almost identical to the original art. I have the strategy guide for that lying around.

It seems like the red reflected in the water dies out a little suddenly.  I think a red sunset would have flecks of red all over, like this:

Mind you this is only the closest image I could find to what you have there with a ten-page google image search.  Might not be the best example.  It doesn't show the stripe of reflected light, for one.  Those that did had everything else obscured.

But you still have an absolutely beautiful painting there.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Thanks! ._. Might surprise you, but it only took an hour and was kinda random.

And yeah, water looks a little too opaque...
