FAULT: I USE 3dsmax and photoshop for painting textures.

It's love  :D I had a lot of fun posing them doing different things but I have to work on some other stuff right now. I'll probably be doing more 3d characters next week.

If you just want to dabble in some 3d you could use something free, like Blender ::) But if you are more serious about it, I would find a way to acquire a more serious program.

I don't think blender does animations though...

or does it? I'm not really familiar with these programs.

Blender does indeed have a robust animation system.

Although yes, 3DS max is better, you can do quiet well with blender.

Blender has all sorts of animation, it simply has a learning curve as steep as Dwarf Fortress.

Very steep...Its a challenge to get good with blender...I've been messing around with it for about a year and I'm still learning to do stuff in it.

I KNOW AAGHGG I REMEMBER THE LEARNING CURVE

last time I tried blender, I made a cube. THAT WAS ALL I COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO DOOOOOO

I COULDN'T EVEN ALTER THE CUBE IN ANY WAY

so I went back to sketchup and made some really boxy guns....

Fault, blender starts you off with a cube...you have to change the mode to edit to alter.

I could make anyone a noob's noob guide to blender if they'll want to use it...as a rope up the curve.

There's some related e-books on wikipedia, that's how I figured it out. They do a good job of explaining the unorthodox interface.

FAULT, I still believe you made a cube  :D
I think Dwarf Fortress makes a lot more sense than Blender, but I guess I didn't really want to learn Blender because I already knew 3dsmax.

I have uploaded my mini dragoon model for people to play with (for personal use only) If you are interested in taking a look you can download him here.
