Did another one!

Inspired by the Lonesome Valley. Hope I managed to evoke the same feeling with this one :)

And off to bed with me!

Hmm. I like it, but I think the character would stand out more as a focus point if there was less green around him.

jopax: the colours are good but the landscape is too flat. adding more layers towards the horizon with intresting siluettes nad maybe a foreground would help

Stick I think the flatness of the landscape might have been a core point of the piece Jopax made, it seems to be trying to portray a barren, desolate wasteland with a single person standing on the edge of a canyon.

That being said, your piece today is quite nice ;)
However, the face almost looks... too detailed*, it doesn't match the general scheme of the armor, sword, or background yet it also seems to not quite be the only focal point, which a sudden shift in focus level would normally suggest. If it's supposed to be the main focal point I would personally recommend also increasing the LOD of the tops of the pauldron and chest as well so it doesn't look quite as sudden.

*I realize drawing a clear face that is at the same LOD and coloring style as the rest of the piece would probably be a nightmare, just trying to help.

I think he means flatness in terms of lacking depth, not flatness of the landscape.

Here is the first thing I've drawn digitally in a long time.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

EDIT: its not full sized for whatever reason so it may be a little fuzzy, damnit.

EDIT 2: Well I think this one is considerably better, I seem to occasionally have strange epiphanies on how to actually do something that looks both right and relatively good.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

usually this happens in a series so maybe more to come? hopefully each considerably better than the last.

Still damnably fuzzy but doable I guess.

I get moments like that. Then half the time it seems I completely forget how I managed to make whatever I had the epiphany over.

Man, I really should get a scanner running so I can share some of my drawings.

@Urist: I like the shading in the first picture. It's simpler, almost vector like, but looks somehow better. Keep practicing! :D

@Jopax: Still speechless :P

Also, I finally dared to do something in colour! But again, no eyebrows... Although this is not the final version. This isn't even what I was going for. Instead of working on the eyes like I should have, I just decided to make everything glow. I need sleep, will continue tomorrow.

Yay and verily, for the good god above did graceth me with yon moment of inspiration.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

it is a camera that flies... like a boss. Couple of smudges 'ere 'n' t'ere and you can see the shitty back-side-doodle, but I liked it.
