The foreshortening didn't come out as good as it should have, i think i was supposed to make it darker, or give it some more shadow to indicate that it's very bent.

Unfortunately, the right arm is currently rendered to look like it's coming right down, which would make him severely lopsided.

I know double posts are frowned upon, but I felt this thread would need the extra attention.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This was a drawing from a photo reference that was partly finished for a long time (3+ weeks). It was done just yesterday in light of Steve's death - the only things that were missing was part of the background  and his hand, both of which I took a little less time on in the interest of completion. The work took me about 6-9 hours in total.

Critique and comments, as always, would be appreciated.

His head looks a bit wierd or distorted but in a good way, gives him a lot of character somehow :)

Now, this isn't much of a work of art (well, "serious" art), but since I've spent so much time improving it today, I might as well post it to get advice.

Spoiler: Pony (click to show/hide)

I've obviously been more concerned with the character herself than little details such as shading accuracy, so I'd like to have any obvious shadow sources I've missed pointed out, even in redline if you want. General errors in shading would also be nice to see, my usual style of "trying until it seems right" produces acceptable results, but that won't do if I ever try something more serious than a pony cyborg.

I'm not going to want to ask why you did that but I still am.

There's a fanfic called "Cupcakes". Try and read it. It's not what happened here, but it'll give you an idea.

Thanks, as if I didn't already have a problem with those ponies, now I know there is stuff like that floating around.

[Replisnip.]
It looks like you tried starting with a grid or basic default object and then distorted it with a deformation tool. Do you not find a much better shape if you just place a couple points and start extruding? Also, those are tiny textures compared to your polydensity.

(Edit: You know, I feel like I'm wrong here purely because I always thought you were several times better at using Blender than I ever was.)

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

I have a basic mesh-smooth on there, which makes the face look a little better than it actually does.

I started with a drawn line along the profile, and extruded from there.

And no, I'm not good with modelling faces.
