The thing was supposed to be a kneeling dude or a featureless manrockperson, the entrance as such is placed between his knees, NOT there :D

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Ogdibus: Give the goblins in the rear some sort of secondary activity. Maybe preparing another method of attack, or reacting to an unexpected attack coming from above or from the rear.

Another thing that will help complete to composition is to have some element connecting the action section to the area below the bridge. Something like a dangling body, broken ladders, sneaking baddies. Just one or two of these things drawing connections to the active areas and the inactive areas should tie it together well.

The tower in the background is possible but most likely only in the case that you successfully implement atmospheric perspective and install the needed edges.

This is the first in a series of articles concerning edges which I often link to. Understanding this is probably half the battle of making a decent painting.

Well, it's been ages since last time, but I thought I might just throw something in here.  Hope you find them enjoyable : )
Been doing a lot of painting studies since last time, and I think it kind of shows.

That looks very good, Ogdibus. I wish I could do shading that good.

But since I still can't, I'm keeping to sketches, like these ones for Pandarsenic's Woman of /Ambition/ game.

Pah, that's sketchy shading. Whenever I try to take a large brush and shade a solid-color drawing, I end up spending hours for sub-par results.

The best shading I've done is in this image (that I think I've posted three or four times now, at different stages) and I've been retouching it for literally months.
