You know, I've never actually played the tabletop game, but I loved Dawn of War.  The background lore is great; every fantasy trope turned to 11.

Are you?  What's your favorite faction?

I'm more of a fluff fan, since I haven't actually played the tabletop game either. Dawn of War was awesome, though.

I'm partial to the Imperial Guard, because they're in a universe that sometimes seems as though it was created just to kill them off, and they're still going.

Granted, probably because of the Commis- *BLAM*

Ya, Imperial Guard are the most heroic.  They sort of give context to all the others.

I think I like Dark Eldar the best.  In the horrendously awful galaxy of 40k, they're the worst.  Plus, spacedrow are totally the best idea evar.

I had a lot of Warhammer and 40k miniatures in middle school, but there was no one around to play with. Mostly I just liked painting them, though, until I realized that it was eating up all my allowance.

DoW was fun as hell but had really broken game play as far as unit balancing is concerned. The new one looks different, though.

Anyone play Mark of Chaos?

LegoLord:  Good dwarf; I like the design of his armor.  Legs may be a bit too short, even for a dwarf.
Heh.  Thanks.  It actually happens to be concept art, so that's good to know.  Dwarves in my game are going to be slow, aren't they? :D

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

I love your stuff, Davion.
Do you paint those textures from scratch?

Whee! I got my tablet working!
Threw together a sketch. Check it out.

Can I post some simple, but niceish, Photoshops I did to some of my pictures?

You can post whatever you want.

Oh, also:

This is one I made before I got my tablet working.
Flash for the lines, Photoshop for the textures.

Alright, but this one isn't very good, It's just a single filter.
And yes, I love Max Payne.

I think the line work for the head of Sadsac is good, but I think you should consider using thinner line work for the suit, at least for the inner portions. It takes away from the nice texturing you did.

That is a good point.

I can't take credit for any nice texturing, though.
I just found a picture of burlap and slapped it over top.

Spreggo:  I never played Mark of Chaos, but I did play DoW2.  It's fun, but not really much like the first one at all.  (First one was way better, imo).

Davion:  That is cool.  You have a great style; it conveys drama really well.

Ironhand:  I don't think those finger necessarily clip; the way they fold, I think they look fine.  (I don't draw hands very well, though, so could be wrong.    :P )

There was a super funny thread on conceptart.org this morning; some kid (I assume) posted a request to have his silly, scarred badass arch-angel character drawn.  Instead of the thread being ignored or made fun of, he ended up getting his character drawn by some of the top concept-artists in the world (albeit in a tongue-in-cheek fashion).  It was incredibly funny and cool.

edit: forgot the link:  http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=171264
