Haha, I know I happily abuse blue/orange whenever I want ~drama~, because they're my favorite colors :D

I like the level of dark/light contrast in that image though, Red Fortune. It's something I need to work on.

I found a starfield tutorial for Gimp.
I then made this.

I'm quite sure they're just Viper Defence Craft.

Looks nice ...

Spreggo, thanks for the advice. I do occasionally do stuff in full colour, I just like epic contrasts.
I do need to do that more and NO I DON'T USE THE EYEDROPPER >:I IT IS MY ENEMY.

I'm planning on getting a tablet, and I wanted to ask what you guys think would be a good one to buy.

Wacom all the way. Other brands may work well but it's a real gamble; Wacom is guaranteed to be good.

Get a Bamboo, or if you're loaded, an Intuos4 like yours truly.

I was thinking of getting an Intuos4 since I have the money for it, but I've heard it has some problems.

I use an Intuos 2 with no problems what so ever. The newer ones have lots of buttons and are shinier but they do pretty much exactly the same thing.

If you want to save some money go with Intuos 2 or 3.

Yeah, really, you don't NEED the extra 1024 levels of pressure. I definitely notice it in comparison to my old tablet which was 512 though.
The Intuos4 has the highest specs on the entire market iirc to the point where it's a bit over the top, but report rate increases etc are always nice.

Also, the only problem I can think of is nib wear, some people complain about their nib wearing down ever week or month whatever but I don't really notice it because I'm not drawing in Photoshop 10 hours a day and I make very light brush strokes. But really it isn't much of a problem regardless seeming as the nibs are very cheap and you generally get them in packs of 10.

I've got a Bamboo Pen, which comes with a textured drawing surface like what I'd imagine the Intuos 4 has. It's been almost 4 months and my first nib is worn just enough to look slightly uneven, that's all. The surface itself has worn off more (it's all shiny in the middle now) but honestly that's all right with me. It made a fair amount of noise to draw on the textured stuff, so it's quieter to use now.

Haven't had a chance to use the Intuos line yet (my previous tablet was a Wacom Graphire2), but this little Bamboo has been nice so far. My model has only 512 pressure levels and it's still quite usable. I wish I had a chance to test the difference, though.
