Red Fortune: Did you end up working as much as you wanted to on drawing?

Well, only just over half way through holidays, but not sure if I'll fulfill my goal. I spend too much time distressing over what to draw and not so much time drawing.


In the meantime, have this.
Unless there's a flaw you think I wouldn't of noticed (there ARE many) and you think it's important... I don't really want any critique.

I make this mistake a lot... not sure if it's that noticeable...

the legs are level, but the left arm is way lower than the right.

Legs aren't really level, in the sketch (Which is then filled in with colour etc), his left is in front somewhat.

And his arm is meant to be bent... confusing I know...

I really like the kind of palettes and lightning you use, highly saturated, vivid, glowing.

Also, I like the rain effect.

I don't know how diligently deviantArt deletes images no longer linked anywhere on the site, but just to be sure to avoid bad image links, I edited my earlier post to this version as well.

I hope they don't look too pixellated yet. Oh, and the thing about the headdress looking more alive than the imp herself? Yeah, I managed that pretty much on accident and didn't notice until you mentioned it. It's quite appropriate, though, considering the whole artifact-of-doom-thing it's got going on.

Wow, Red Fortune, that's pretty awesome. The bright reflection from the moon seems like it's drawing my eye away from the focal point a tad, but that's not a big issue since it's balanced pretty well with the reflection from the lamp post.

Anyway, just a quick sketch from me. I had a little fun with this one.

Maybe it means he's more sapient, or has a bigger brain? Or just a higher potential for magics, I suppose.

going with how I envisioned the character, it might have more to do with his ego.

He thinks he's all important, cause he's part of the priest caste, I guess. The previous demon is humbler - he's actually a noble warrior, but he has been decieved and brainwashed into fighting for an evil cause.

I was just guessing. Love your work as always, Fault. I would put some art up, if not for my laughable skills. I'm better at writing. >_>

Fault: his facial structure looks very uncomfortable.

My contribution for the moment is a delver, an adventurous breed of lizardlike creature that I am modding into DF at the minute.  The thing on his tail is a lantern, currently dark; it glows blue in the presence of firedamp and comes in handy as a blunt striking weapon at times.

Believe it or not, computer crashed halfway through and the ref doesn't appear to be saved anywhere, I had to improvise and I think that worked well.

Hard round, 100% Opacity (linked brush) with very few undos, colours painted by eye (though I had some colours eyedropped which I mixed in for later blending)...

Practice, my first real portrait paint.
