Pornography is sad. Erotica is artistic expression, kind of what the Saw movies do, but it's also quite sad sometimes. From what I've been following of Rammstein, it's more likely erotica, as they like their music deep, dark, and poetic. I haven't seen or heard this new video, though, so I can't really tell.

Yeah, conflating porn with erotica will make some people very annoyed.  Then again, so does comparing trash with various works of modern art, and I still do that.  Porn is... hmm... probably not sad.  I'd agree with Jackrabbit that it's a combination of the desire to share and the desire to mate.  Whether watching it is sad, however, is open to debate.

To be honest, however, t's probably just a publicity stunt in this case.

That is why sex is such a hot topic. People don't know how to handle it. This applies for both people very liberal about it and people very conservative about it.

Ugh... 75% of porn has more art value than Saw movies. I'm absolutely certain Rammstein's video is more art than those movies will ever be, and I haven't even seen the video.

The term "Torture porn" comes to mind.  It's not a weird fetish thing, it's torture purely for the sake of revelling in someone's suffering.  I believe tvtropes has Gorn, which is quite similar.

The analogy is along the lines of sex not being anything shameful and likely isn't what people find shameful. It is how it is handled that makes it what it is. Food is an action of life. Sex is as well. Just explaining why sane people find sex shameful.
