Since it'd be nearly impossible to make it work like a boomerang, I instead went by the idea that it has two handles, each attached to chains, which are, in turn, attached to the same morningstar head. Sort of nunchucks plus flails plus a morningstar.
The "returning" comes from the fighting style; skilled people (or very large people) can swing it at their opponents, permitting the user to either attack with a spiky bash, a blunt, forceful crush which hits with enough force to ignore the spiky bits, or a longer-ranged pommel strike which sends the user off-stance, but can hurt almost as much as the forceful crush.

In order to be considered a valid travesty, the word or phrase must be formed from words in the vanilla raws, and they must have at least three letters joining them together.  Otherwise, virtually any words can be stuck together just from sharing an underscore or a colon or something.

RETURNINGSTAR is valid, since it joins RETURNING and MORNINGSTAR through the letters NING.

Other valid travesties:

That's actually the whole basis of the travesty generator. It strings together letter combinations, that already exist in the text, that are X symbold long, where X is the travesty level. My travesties are usually level 4, or level 5 Full Random. Full Random Travesties ignore the frequency with which the letter combinations occur in text, so that if you travestize a language file for instance, every next line won't start with S_WORD.

For instance, [MUSCLE:CLASS:GENERATEPOWERSPINACH] was a conflagration of awesome proportions. I remember checking it for validity because it was so absurd. There was a [MUSCULAR], then through MUSC it linked with one of tissue layer tags with the MUSCLE:CARTILAGE segment, then through LE:C it went with [ENVIRONMENT_SPEC:MARBLE:CLUSTER_SMALL:100], from there it used E:CL to get at [TISSUE_TEMPLATE:CLAW_TEMPLATE], with :CLA it grabbed [CE_SENSE_CREATURE_CLASS:START:0:CLASS:GENERAL_POISON:15:4:0:1] from interaction_vampire, with CLAS it got [CREATURE_CLASS:GENERAL_POISON], followed through NERA by [GENERATES_MIASMA] from material defs, then through RATE by [PENETRATEPOWER], then through OWER by [LOWERSPINE], and then through SPIN by [PLANT:SPINACH].

So yeah, it all works exactly like that. ^_^

Especially stuff like Kenny and the Four Musketeers II: Blood, Notes of a Mad Magic Piano, and of course the legend of the Flying Kentuckian. The Cats of Rats City sounds like an awesome read, and The Evil Clergyman's Mountains of Unnameable Old Folk I'd probably read just because of the name. XD

I'd avoid The Jimmy Power Horror Picture Shout Dick like the plague though.
