Heh. "Archainimum". If there was ever a book about it, specifically about finding/attaining it, half the book would be spent by the heroes guessing what the hell that word even means. Or perhaps the whole book, with the big reveal at the end, that the Archainimum is actually

I'm preparing an update of the Travestificator. The planned addition is a menu, either context from right-clicking something, or as a strip. The menu items would be:
  • File->Add text file(s) to Input - this will allow selecting one or more .txt files, and automatically paste their contents into the Input field.
  • File->Save Input to text file - to easily save any input combinations you cook up.
  • Options->Start From Beginning - make the output start from the beginning of the input text, as the old Travesty Generator did.
  • Options->Full Random Travesty - ignore letter probabilities when making output, so that numerous occurences of one don't prevent the rare others from appearing.

Now the question is, which would preferable - the strip or the context menu, and of course I'm taking suggestions for further improvements.

It'd be nice to be able to turn off auto-initialization. For very, very large inputs, it can take a loooong time, and I'd rather paste in everything and then initialize when ready.

Okay, can do. You'll get a menu button for that, and a switch under Options. Most of the time, I just turn the level down to 2, and paste things, because at level 2 there's a very definite limit to how many variations there are, and it doesn't slow the machine that much. I was even able to get the program to eat ALL OF DF RAWS!!! It took a good five minutes at level 4, but it did it! The online Travestizer could never have achieved that. I'm almost proud of my creation.

In other news. One unexpected problem later, another option is added. You can choose to "respect newline characters". This is on by default, and the effect is that when you use Full Random Travesty, you don't get a newline every second time. Since all probabilities are discounted, the odds of there being a linefeed character after the end of a tag are almost fifty-fifty, especially for some raws.

Also found and squashed a few bugs that were interfering with the process. (such as realizing that C# treats a linefeed as TWO characters) You should now get even more varied travesties. Hopefully it also removes the odd "endless repeat" bug where the output would lock to a repeating phrase and never let go.

New features:
  • A whole new menu strip added!
  • File import! Select a whole swath of text files to import into your Input field.
  • File export! Save that painstakingly assembled source of your best travesties for later reuse.
  • Option - Start From Beginning! Opt to start every travesty from the beginning of your source text, like it was done of old.
  • Option - Full Random Travesty! Throw away the shackles of probability, and see what your source can really be mangled into!
  • Option - Respect Newline Characters! With the advent of the above option, linebreaks became arrogant and started appearing everywhere. Not much use disabled, but might be fun to see. On by default.

Changes:
  • Automatic Updating made optional. Enabled by default. Use the new Update button when it's off, button color shows whether or not you should update.
  • Moved all controls to the new menu strip. This made the output area bigger. :D
  • Restricted level and length selections to specific values. Couldn't do it any other way.

Bugfixes:
  • Fixed odd behavior around linebreaks by trimming linefeed characters to one, rather than the usual two, in processing.
  • Fixed tiny error in random letter selection, now the old endless-repeat bug should be gone.
