On topic: Obama made a comment like everything the American president does it got blown out of proportion. I don't really see what made this topic worthy.

I just think when you're the president and you know everything you say will get blown out of proportion, it takes a fair bit of cojones to call someone a jackass (even if most people agree).

Yeah, as the most right-leaning of all the Great Old Ones, I'm embarrassed by some of the things I see people saying in response to Obama stuff.  Some of the criticisms I've heard are absurd, and I know a thing or two about absurd criticisms, I somehow managed to get caught up into it around election time.  Never again.

People already like Obama

Define people... because I can't wait for him to leave.  He's a damn socialist trying to change what made America great.  If you don't like it, there are several countries that you might enjoy living in.  There's a reason I don't.  I'm not willing to support some idiot that can't/won't support themselves.  They can die for all I care.  Yes, I said it.

The problem is what made a country great isn't necessarily what makes a country great. Britain was made great by sailing around the globe and conquering anywhere we fancied. If we tried to do that today we would probably get smashed into tiny little pieces. Anyhow what I'm trying to say is that America needs some kind of healthcare reform unless you enjoy being ranked between Costa Rica and Slovenia. Not to mention that you are already paying for these people, it's illegal for a hospital in America to deny someone treatment if it is a matter of life and death, if that person can't pay or skips out on the bills the hospital raises the money through increased costs for patients and the insurance company paying for you raises the money by charging you more. It's nicely hidden from you at the moment but it's there.

That's a problem with the laws as they are.  I say get rid of the laws requiring they be cared for and let people fend for themselves.  And for the record, I don't entirely pay for them as I don't have, nor need insurance right now.  It's not because I'm too poor like BO+Dems want you to think.  It's because I can pay my own visitation fees, and if I get some disease, I'll deal with it then.  If I can't deal, I simply call it a good life and let things play their course.  I can't stand sympathy laws.  The human race can't survive by promoting the weakest links.

On Topic:  It does matter what the President says because of who he is and what he stands for.  If you allowed people to decide how great a person is by what "cool thing" he said we may as well nominate the next wrestling champion and fulfill the Idiocracy theory.  This goes for Kanye as well, but not so much... because he's not representing us as a people.  When Obama leaves office then he can say whatever he wants.

It's the same with Oprah, she refused to say anything about who she was for before the election because she knew that so many of her viewers would just follow her and that could have a negative effect on the democratic process, her influence being that widespread.

Most celebrities would use their influence to get their fans to vote for people they wanted in office. If they cared enough. Oprah's opinion would probably win at least ten thousand votes, though.
