>Any histories, any journals of famous wizards, any anatomy books.
And wildlife journals_

You browse through some wildlife journals. most of them are about the nearby mountains and don't include anything you couldn't learn just by watching the animals yourself, however others are about some of the beasts you saw at the arena. you don't really find any history or anatomy books. but you do find one journal of a wizard. surprisingly, it's about many magical different magical beings. Elves, dwarfs, wyverns Etc. Also, his home is out in the woods nearby. his dream apparently is to find and write about a dragon in one of his journals. two scholars then enter the library. you change color to that of the library around you, rendering you almost invisible.

Go out stealthily, or people will start hunting us.

I don't think we're ready for dragon hunters yet.

>Go out stealthily_

you sneak out of the library stealthily.

>fly to wizard in forest_

You fly out to the wizard in the forest. arriving at a small cottage in the woods, you see him writing at a desk. you enter the cottage and the wizard looks up at you surprised. he seems to be waiting for you to do something.

'Hello, mortal.'

'I hear you want a dragon?'

might not be the best greeting, we're mortal too (just not quite as short-lived).

Introduce ourselves, then tell him that we can help him with his journals, in exchange for magical training/items.

And if he refuses, zap him, without warning.

Gloating/threatening will just get us killed.

Make friends with the wizard. Honest, equal, informal, mutual friends.

>Introduce ourselves, then tell him that we can help him with his journals, in exchange for magical training/items._

you tell him your name, and your terms for agreeing to help him. he agrees and asks what your preferred diet is, the anatomical changes you went through during your life span, as well as your life story, such as how you came to be here, and what happened to you during your life. he also asks where it is you make your home, but you decide not to disclose this information to him, and he accepts this. while telling him all this, he scrawls notes furiously onto a paper, and sometimes asks a question of you. after a long day of this he leads you down into a cellar and gives you a few things. one is a crystal ball he says he got as payment for promising not to disclose the location of a group of satyrs. another is bag of phoenix ashes. the last one is a mirror that he was told could be used to travel across planes. while he isn't sure if this is true or not, extensive testing has shown that it indeed has some magical properties, although he never got it to work. finally, he asks if he could have one of your scales, so he can research it.

Say 'fine', and pull one of the scales from our tail.

Then fly home, and spend special time with our new stuff.

Smile, and say "sure!". Then chat idly for 53 seconds, then fly how, and keep the mirror close so you might absorb that power. Return to the wizard within a few days unless something unexpected happens, after all it's not like you have anything better to do.

>give scale_

"fine" you say, and give him one of your scales. you go back to your cave home to store the objects he gave you. Except for the mirror which you keep in your treasure pouch. you find the ability it has interesting.

>Return to the wizard_

after a few days you return to the wizards home. you find him frozen in a solid block of ice.
