I just saw this on the news. A certain type of eye problem which caused a woman to go blind for 9 years is given her sight back by some fancy hig-jiggery involving part of one of her teeth, and a special lense placed right in her eye.

It's not particularily  "wowish". Eye lenses have been around for a while.

Heck, the article itself points it out

It seems to be reasonably successful on the small numbers that have been done," though it does bring some disfigurement.

The complicated procedure "requires a team of dentists and ophthalmologists," he said. "It's just it's an extreme variation on techniques we're already doing."

But he added, "In their defense, they are working on the worst of the worst, people with no other alternatives."
