You'll slur when talking about it, but it'll make for interesting conversation.
If you talk in a stereotypical upper-class british accent, you'll be plain weird, but very interesting.
Also go on a road trip. Preferably in a very cool old car.

Aside from finding a job specifically, maybe you need to find ways to be more productive in general. Hobbies, interests, whatever.

As far as school goes, I slacked off and did far worse than I could have for, I don't know, my entire public school career. By "freshman year" I'm guessing you mean high school, so trust me, you have more than enough time to catch up.

Oh, that, and ignore the three posts before mine.

Quite frankly I'm not sure he needs any of this advice. The way I see it he has two options.

  • Remain depressed about easily remedied situation.
  • Become proactive and remedy situation.

Everyone needs my advice. Let us all be weird. Far more fun.

Oh, like that's going to elect any response other than anger from him. Still, I'm not helping. Example:

Your situation is suspiciously similar to the situation of millions of teenagers over the last 4 or 5 decades (maybe longer). There's no point to anything, I don't feel motivated, I don't have good grades...

I don't hate you. Remember that, I'm not trying to anger you or anything (though I know I will. Be assured I'm really really sorry). I just really don't like this sort of mindset. You appear to be searching for sympathy because you're in a situation you can very easily change.

Heh, I wish I was bored. Right now, I have a lot of awesome things to do, but I haven't had the luxury of getting bored for around 3 years straight.

The way I see it, you have two extremes:
- Live a 'comfortable', carefree, and pointless life
(e.g. bums who hang out all day, never needing to work, surviving on stuff fast food joints throw out)
- Live an ambitious but difficult life
(e.g. overachievers who sleep with supermodels, graduated from ivy league unis, own a multimillion dollar company, but only get 2 hours of sleep between social life and work.. with no free time to themselves or to enjoy what their tons of money can buy)

There's a point of happiness between those two.. too ambitious and you'll get yourself stressed... too low and you'll get bored and envy those better than you. Sounds you just need to be a little more ambitious. Find something you really like and go for it. If you're not enjoying life, chances are you're just doing something that you don't want to be doing.

Pretty much everyone here does that, this being Berkshire, or a close modern equivalent. Takes a lot of the fun out of it.
In that case talk in medieval swedish.

Being a bum on the street is "carefree"? That's news to me. I know I'd have a lot of things to worry about if I were sleeping on park benches in the middle of the night, never did anything with myself, probably got sick constantly and couldn't do anything about any of it.

I don't know, that doesn't sound like all that hot advise to me. 'being missed' isn't always the magic thing that'll prevent a suicide. It helps not to mention suicide in the first place.

It's not the being missed we are lamenting about, it's the missing out on all the fun stuff. Like scribblenaughts.

And babes.

Oh, yes.

As you said last year was your freshman's, you obviously haven't finished school. There's a lot out there that's waiting to be discovered by you and you have to find it yourself.
