Well, I'm hoping more people get around to aid one of us before the end of the set-up phase. If one of us was Cabal it would be fairly one-sided right now.

If ONE of you were Cabal? Now what are you implying?

I'm torn, I want to help you Kashyyk, I really do think Neruz is scum, but I'm afraid you might both be scum. For now, Im going to do nothing.

Neruz is scum because he bandwagoned onto Webadict+Pandarsenic without providing a reasoning for it, although if he can pull up a post I missed I might reconsider.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

If you think Neruz is scum, then assist Kashyyk.  If you think Kashyyk is scum, we can throw him in the ring later.

I was saying if from everyone else's point of view. I know i'm not Cabal, but I have no way of proving this, so I'm just acknowledging that.

Well, help me then. If Neruz really is scum and I win then we have only two scum left. If we are both scum it won't make any difference who you help, a scum will be defeated. Therefore it is a win-win situation for the town to aid me.

You're trying too hard to get assistance. I know you should be worried that Neruz is scum, so I dunno. Lemme think about it.

Here's the issue: If one of you is scum, and I help the scum, the rest of the scum team will just go and assist the scum and things will be bad for the town. If I help the town, the scum can still get an advantage if ANYBODY on the town assists the scum. So bascally, we have long-shot odds to even make things EVEN if one of you is scum. So I'm going to have to be very deliberate in my choice, it's not something to be taken lightly, ok?

They're both scum. He's just trying to get assistance to make sure he lives, in which case he can attribute his success to everyone's boosting, instead of his stats. Likely, he's going to survive anyhow or he wouldn't've put himself in the ring in the first place.

It's just a ploy. He's got stats enough to win and then some.

We'd both prefer to survive, unfortunately some idiot who's name i will not mention decided to put both of us in the ring, instead of one of us and Web.

Frelock inscribes Navy Blue runes of Fire in the air above Kashyyk to give him an Attack Boost

I have meetings this morning, so you get a slight extension. You have 1 1/2 hours to get in any assists or side-actions. If you do not do so, I will assume that you do nothing.

If I'm not too late:
- I'm fairly certain that Neruz is cabal. Either that or very very new and making the new player things that look scummy.
- I'm less certain about Kashyyk. There is some scummitude, but not over terribly much.

All told, it's better to kill off the more likely scum, so I'm going to assist Kasshyk with the healiness of water. Hopefully, that will be enough to keep him a little more alive.

If I was correctly keeping track of it, Kasyyk should now be equal to or better than Neruz in at least two stats.

Ok, Set-up phase is closed. I'll be running the battle and doing the side-action write-ups over lunch. So hopefully I'll have all of that done in the next few hours.

Kashyyk walks out onto the floor of the arena. With a wave of his wand Muave runes appear in the air around him. He brings down his wand in a quick slash, and the runes erupt in flames!

Neruz enters from the other side, and lazily spins his wand in his hand. Cobalt runes begin to whirl and spin around his arm, and soon a blue-tinged wind rages about him.

The multicolored spray of light shines across the Arena as the Marshal begins the duel. Neruz stops the spinning wand with a snap of his hand, the tip pointed straight at Kashyyk. A torrent of air and dust slams into the Muave wizard, sending him flying backwards and tumbling on the ground. He rolls to a stop and staggers to his feet, wand jabbing out at Neruz. A great gout of fire erupts from the wand, engulfing the blue mage. As the fires dim you can see Neruz standing, flickering runes fading as he beats wildly on his arm to put out a stray flame that broke through. His opponent distracted by the flame, Kashyyk hurls a ball of fire across the arena. Neruz barely manages to dance to the side, his defensive aura flaring to life again as the fireball passes by his head.

Grimacing, Neruz slashes downwards with his wand. A great twister forms high the arena and snakes down after Kashyyk. The muave wizard is buffeted by the winds, but he holds his ground. Neruz slams him with yet another twister, this one sending him spinning into one of the walls of the arena. His head slams against the hardened stones, and you can see blood pour form a cut on his forehead. Kashyyk staggers back into the arena, Muave runes erupting in the air around him. He hurls the flaming runes at his opponent, but the blue wizard just smirks as they fly wide of the mark.

Kashyyk wipes the blood away from his eyes and hurls another barrage of fire at Neruz. The cobalt wizard's runes flare up before him, but you can see the strain in his face as he struggles to maintain his defenses. A blue-tinged wind slices down from above at Kashyyk, but the distracted blue mage cannot hold his concentration on it, and it fades before even reaching the muave wizard. The next attack strikes harder, slamming into Kashyyk and blinding him for a bit, but not long enough to prevent a renewed gout of fire from engulfing Neruz. Blue runes flre around him, shining brightly and then fading as Kashyyk's assault intensifies. Staggering backwards, the singed blue wizard slashes wildly with his want. Blue crescents of wind slam into Kashyyk, driving him once again to the floor.

Again and again the two mages hurl their magics at one another, each straining to breach the defenses and wear their weakened opponent down. Time and time again you watch as each mage barely deflects the assaults against him.

Finally, Neruz rushes forward. Blue runes swirl about his arms and he pummels Kashyyk with twisting bands of force. The muave wizard his driven to his knees, his defensive runes sparking and fading. A final barrage of blue runes slam against him, and Kashyyk falls senseless to the ground.

Staggering slightly and missing a good bit of hair, Neruz walks out of the Arena. Kashyyk rallies enough to rise to his knees as the Healers reach him, and they gently escort him off to the Healing Ward.

As the fight concludes, many of you are shocked to hear a bestial roar from behind you. Turning, you see that webadict has transformed into a hideous demonic creature and is attacking Mr.Person! Security intervenes quickly, but not before Mr.Person suffers grievous wounds. Both the injured mage and the subdued demon are dragged away.

Looking up at the glowing Announcement Board, you see the following Statements:
Kashyyk, Wizard of Water has lost a duel, and is removed from the Tournament!
Mr.Person, Archmage of Earth has suffered an accident and is removed from the Tournament!
Webadict, Dark Battle Mage of Air has been found in possession of Dark Magic, and has been banned from the Tournament!

It is now time to vote for the next round of Duelists! Voting will stay open until ~5pm Pacific Monday

First, I am saddened by the passing of Mr.Person.  He would have been rather helpful to have in a fight as an Archmage, he was even more powerful than the cabal.  Conversely, I am happiened by the death of webadict.  At least that means that we had the right idea about him and that we're down to an even 1 vs 1.

Ok, so these players are still alive:
# Neruz
# JanusTwoface
# Frelock
# Jetsquirrel

Of these, I think that Neruz is the most likely scum (he won even with two boosts on Kashyyk) and I think that Jetsquirrel is likely to be working with him for this simple fact:  Yesterday, Jetsquirrel had the deciding votes for who would be going into the ring and he choose to match Kashyyk against Neruz rather than sending both scum (Neruz and webadict) into the ring.  Therefore, I am going to vote that we send send Neruz and Jetsquirrel into the ring today.

If anyone has any particularly better ideas, please come on out.  We're doing all right with one dead scum and one or two more basically identified, but we still need 100% participation.
