Latest 2D version.
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:14:21 am »

I'm confused as to which one to download, and I have a very slow connection, so mistakes are quite costly. Also, is there any way to copy the data and raws from a 3D version to 2D without damaging the game itself?

The last 3d version would be 0.23a

And no, copying data from 3d to 2d won't work, neither are savegames compatible.

Raws should be mostly reverse-compatible, but there might be new tags that the 2d game doesn't recognize.

There...was a 3d version?  It wasn't always ASCII?

It's still ASCII, the 3D part is the z-levels. There aren't any creatures or single buildings stretching multiple z-levels. Yea you can build a wall multiple z-levels high, but each segment is only one z-level.

Yeah, this is the 3D version.

It used to be all one z-level.

Ah, I follow.

Buildings stretching multiple Zs would be pretty cool.  Don't know if it's technically possible though.

You can build a multiple Z-level building already - by using stairs or ramps.

No I do follow.  I meant individual buildings.  Like a windmill being several z levels tall.

Ah, I understand. I just think of the windmill "building" as the fanes only - I make a tower and attach the windmill on top to get a real windmill.
