Catch it, eat it!
Find some more of the symbiotic strain and cultivate them

No, we are attaching a tree to a dwarf, a tree that requires the dwarf in order to live, we will be able to slaughter the elves without retaliation!

oh boy , that worried me the problem is the elf would be hugging us then!
and maybe it would fuse with the tree!

Scan the new organism.
If it is similar to the microbial colony forming around Urist dwarven, then introduce the new organism to a secluded sample of Urist dwarven.

Also, I propose when our creature becomes sentient we name it,

Barbatus vegrandis

Direct translation is bearded, small.
Assuming they will have beards...

You examine the organism and find it is a variant strain of the cell Drakonis harmonium. It is a normal heterotroph, but highly aggressive in this form. You watch as it enters the colony, and proceeds to feed on large amounts of microbes.

At this rate, Urist dwarven will be killed in a few hours. What do you do?

Poke it with my poking stick! Keep poking until it's dead or goes away!

Alternately, dribble some food into the water to lead it away from our dorfs.

I don't suppose we could coat the intruder in butter, miracle grow, or otherwise make it look tasty? Eating problems is the most preferable way of solving them, IMO.

Otherwise poke the offending microbe.

Expose Drakonis harmonium to exotic radiation, when it bite Urist Dwarven the Urist Dwarven will develop super Drakonis harmonium powers!

Phew, it's only a secluded sample.

Assuming that they don't mutate, we should take this as an opportunity to catalogue down somewhere that the Drakonis harmonium is dangerous for Urist dwarven.

Drakonis harmonium has fascinating powers at reviving itself from the dead, I see.
