Life Simulations
« on: September 13, 2009, 08:35:04 pm »

Well... Can someone please help me/others find a good life sim...
Ive already tried:
Unreal World
Haven And Hearth
WurmOnline
Spore
Earth Sim
Mabinogi
Maplestory
-------------
Im looking for something where you hunt/gather for your food, clothing, weopons, recources, house, and etc.
I dont mind if its multiplayer, or if you have to download it.
If anyone can help, Thanks!

I would say either UnReal World or Wurm.  But you've tried both of those..

I have nothing against Unreal world or Wurm, Its just that URW is very time consuming, And wurm is no fun without premium.

I'd go with Stranded 2

Could we please stop making these?

Actually, I can't think of any decent life simulator (or however you want to call that kind of game) that is *not* freeware

What about the ones that are freeware that are decent?

well, there are some I liked, but as always, your mileage may vary

To begin with the obvious one: a dwarf fortress hermit challenge is pretty much that.

Also, I downloaded stranded 2 yesterday, havent tried it yet, so I dont know how decent it is. http://www.stranded.unrealsoftware.de/

Slash'em is a roguelike, but it lets you do quite a bit of stuff.

There was some finnish game whose name I cant remember, which in theory let you do lots of stuff as well. It wasnt exactly freeware, more like shareware with some features unlockable when you coughed up the cash. I think I saw it as a link in the-underdogs. You might want to check the (resurrected) site and see if its still there.

There's Ville Monkkonen's Notrium. It was a nice game. Open-ended, too but to a limited extent. I dont know if it has gotten any updates. You might want to give it a shot.

I said as much,  if you check what I said. But OP posted

and thus I felt it qualifies. Because you can do quite a few of things in it.

The Finnish game you described is almost certainly UnrealWorld.  But that was more of a demo than shareware, really...

Still though, how many Finnish games *are* there?

There must be a few at least. The guy from Notrium, Ville Monkkonen, surely sounds finnish (his name, at least)

Which of these features does Slash'Em actually have?  I'd be willing to give it a go as well if you can really make your own clothing and such and settle down in your own house, from which you go adventuring.
